I Am Malala describes the life of Malala Yousafzai and how she came to be such an important figure in today’s society.

Summary of the Book

It was in the year 2009 that Malala Yousafzai, the girl who became a symbol of courage and hope, started her own blog. She wrote about the life experienced in the Swat Valley during the days when it was controlled by the Taliban. The girls in the valley were stopped, sometimes banned, from attending school on many occasions. It wasn’t long before Malala made herself known to the public and made appearances in both Pakistani and international media. She spoke for the freedom of education for everyone, especially the women in her valley. When she boarded her school bus in October 2011, she was tracked down by a gunman who shot her as soon as she told him her name. Though one of the bullets went through her forehead and into her shoulder, she survived. This is the story of her bravery at such a young age, which has made her a worldwide symbol of courage and hope.
